Games for 18/12/2009

So this week, Mick missed -
The Dark elves nearly getting a TPK in Quest, thwarted only by Bradley's Celestial Wizard beating damn near half of them to death with a telescope.
Andy B gets to use a flamer for once, and in the excitement gets his template all over the table.
The Nappy players go from serious wargaming to advanced geometry [apparently this was "about to be a clusterf##k" - shame I missed that, it looks so organised there].
Greg had a painted figure to show off. Yes, that Greg. No, really. He'll base it next year.
The Orks camoflaged the Trukk for the wrong table.

Next week -

WFB League game - JDE and Phil
Something Historical - Brettt, Bradley and TNMT (no, I meant The Now Mythical Trainset, anyone shouting Heroes in a Half Shell at him is just rude).
40K - Andy B and Vince. Again.
Talisman - everyone else. No, really.

American Hordes

Thank you to Rob, Bradley, BookMark and Brett for the first playtest of my precontact American stuff... here's some pictures of what Trainset missed...

The scenery was worth the effort but didn't show up well in the other photos....

Massed Tlaxcallan archers prepare to show that I got the shooting factors a bit wrong....
Aztecs prepare to not hold the river bank.

Bradley's Zapotecs engage in a "swirling melee", ie a complete mess.

The French errect a monument to Brett not playing Napoleonics.

Firstly apoligies for the lateness of this post, work is being done on my home so been away since Thursday... But we have pictures again!!! :-)

Here we have the advance of the colonials onto the British positions, if you look carefully I'm sure you can see Al and Mel...

Its 9pm, the battle has been raging for an hour and they finally reached the end of turn one! Yay Epic!!!

In the Pirates of the Beachcomber Bar game Andy was wondering if he would ever have a captain on his side that follows a plan as the East India Trading Company comes to a sticky end again against the Pirates lead by Cap'n Robin of the Foul Winds...

Next week we have:

French Wars of Religion- Rob, Bradley and James (if Vince not present)

Fun and games for 16/09/09

Hello folks - in Mick and Phil's absence (not off together, or so they say) - here's what did, didn't and will happen....

What did happen - despite Tom's excellent leadership, the Americans lost to the Italians in Rapid Fire. Must be down to gap in class between the armies.

Bradley's game of Epic involved more dice than tanks, and (rumor had it) reached turn 2!

Mark played Mark in the league, only got a draw. Well done Mark; but Mark could have done better.

Games for next week

1. Warhammer League Game - Robin & Trainset (6ft)

2. ? - Tony & Tom (4ft)

3. Memoir 44 - James, Brett & Bookmark

4. Wars Of The Roses - Rob, Gregg, Vince & Bradley (6ft)

Cheers!

Next week we have:

Weekly update and games for 2-9-09

Another week with photo's! Mind you they may be missing for the next three weeks as work stops play for me again :-(

Firstly we have a picture of the 'friendly' between Chaos Daemons and Skaven. They may be evil but those Daemons sure are pretty colours!

In the 'non-friendly' league game between Warriors of Chaos and Skaven the knights and their champion laugh at the rat ogres (not realising the suprise making their way towards them...)
It must be noted that James (the WoC player) hates his dice so much he even said about them on his Facebook page!

Here the WWII Germans again encounter robots who want to 'terminate' them, you'd think they would have learnt their lesson last time. Mind you they didn't learn after WWI...

Finally a blast from the past in the form of 'Apocalypse' the old board game from GW. Here the Balkans have just entered nuclear winter...

Next week we have:

GASLIGHT- Trainset, Brett and (possibly) James

Fury of Dracula- Vince, Bookmarc, Andy and Tom

Ancient- Rob, Bradley, Chris and Knuckles

This weeks quote- '...and Shorty?' A bit cryptic but if no guesses I will add others :-)

Until the next time, Mick

Weekly Update and Games for 26-8-09

Photo's again this week! I do spoil you all...

First we have a picture of Chris's sci-fi skirmish where a group of WWII Germans have an encounter with robots who want to 'terminate' them...

Here we see the result of a Necron force that decided to stand and shoot against an Ork horde, more scrap metal for the mekaniks...

A close up of the action on the Pirates of the Beachcomber Bar game where Bookmarc managed to push Knuckles off the top of the naval game 'cock-ups' by shooting at AND sinking his own ship!!!

Finally a look down the length of the Pirates game. Historical? Maybe not. Hollywood? Definately! And fun!!!

Next week we have:

Warhammer League- James and Bradley

Warhammer Friendly- Andy and Bookmarc

Apocalypse (boardgame)- Vince, Mick and possibly Robin

Something Historical- Everyone else. You get to decide amongst yourselves you lucky people...

This weeks quote- 'On my signal, unleash hell!'

Until the next time, Mick

Friday, August 14, 2009

Weekly update and games for 19-8-09

Back to photos this week but of only two games as the HotT game had finished and they were about to play the DEVIANT card game

There's only one way to get rid of rats, use a Fanatic...

Orcs & Goblins vs Skaven, if you look carefully you can see the table straining under the weight of all the figures...

As the Predators decided to hunt one of their own due to him running from the first sign of Alien warriors the small human elite force were left to deal with the bugs and their queen, at least two of them get a good view of the hand to hand...

Next week we have:

BFG- Brett and Trainset

40k/Necromunda- Vince and Bradley

Pirates of the Beachcomber Bar- Mick, Bookmarc, Tom and Robin

Medeival or Sci-Fi skirmish- Chris, Tony and Knuckles

This weeks quote: 'Oooo, scary, scary!'

Until the next time, Mick

Weekly update and games for 12-8-09

No pictures this week as I forgot to take any...

Its a shame as the first game involved a very nicely painted Imperial Guard army against an equally nicely painted Ork army although it did take most of the night to get the Ork army on the table...

Then there was an ACW game which introduced me to the period and the fact that when against me my son throws any number he needs but when he is on my side he cant throw a six to save his life!

There was a 10mm AWI which saw the Grenadiers seeming to have the same problem throwing the dice...

Finally there was the Warhammer league game, Ogres vs Skaven which saw the Ogre army taking plenty of casualties (mainly from its own side!) and finally losing, but a good battle none the less.

Next week we have:

Warhammer league game- Bradley and Vince (Vince to start setting up Monday pm)

FWC- Rob, Mick and Chris

Hordes & Magic the Gathering- James (arch deviant), Trainset and Bookmarc (trainee deviants)

This weeks quote- 'Me I'm dishonest, and you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest, honestly.'

Til the next time, Mick

Weekly review and games for 5-8-09

Back to photo's this week!

Here we have the first Bull Run in 6mm (look very carefully the figures are there somewhere, although I did notice Vince had forgot to sew a button on one of them...)

Next is G.A.S.L.I.G.H.T. where we see the brave doctor rushing the colonial rebels to teach them what for!

This is not the victorious Empire army led by its sorcerer general at the end of turn six, it is in fact the Empire casualties at the end of turn 2!

Finally we have AvP 3 40k style where the bugs were well and truly stomped on...

Next week we have:

40k- Andy B and Vince

AWI- Brett, Trainset and Andy G

Warhammer (league game)- Robin and Bookmarc

ACW (or possibly Epic)- bradley, Chris and Knuckles

Remember its this Saturday (1st at 10am, Chapz barbers, The Strand) that I'm getting my hair chopped off so I'll be after your sponsorship money on Weds... :-)

This weeks quote: 'Right, you two stay here and guard him.'
As usual answers in the form of another quote from the same film please...

Until the next time, Mick
